Always On Your Mind (SAB Choir)
New out this week is Always on My Mind, a song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James, and Wayne Carson, recorded first by B.J. Thomas in 1969, then other versions including Gwen McCrae, Brenda Lee, Willie Nelson, The Pet Shop Boy, and then of course, Elvis Presley.
This is a very accessible soprano/alto/baritone arrangement for SAB choir where each part takes turns on the melody for the verse, before joining together in some very effective harmony on the chorus and bridge. This makes for a simpler and quicker version to get ready for performance but still provides a really effective concert work for both choir and audience, also giving the choir director a chance to focus on blending and shaping skills.
